metal rebel

Metal Rebel/Nylon Dec 2012/Jan 2013

I adore this 'molten' inspired makeup shoot. It takes a festive favourite makeup essential  (metallic) and adds a grungey, playful vibe to it. Golden hues and shimmery undertones are fun and easy to apply, so why not 'go with it' this party season. Mix metallic tones, demonstrate your artistic skills and braid your hair with sliver and gold - the alternative way to shine on NYE.

3.1 phillip lim pre-fall 2013

Lusting over Phillip Lim's combinations in his pre-fall collection. Accents of leopard print, aqua blue and white combined with Lim's renowed street-friendly tailoring and straight-off-the-catwalk wearable clothes, makes it a highly sought after collection. I am especially loving the bold aqua pullover with zip detail and the silky leopard print trousers, a fine way of preventing leopard print from becoming tacky.

Always an Autumn/Winter favourite for me, tartan is my favourite pattern to layer with. It has a classic grungy vibe, but also rules in terms of practicality. Take a checkered flannel shirt - buttoned up, left open, worn on the waist, or under a jumper - practical and cosy. Not exactly high-FASHION or the next-best-thing, but a hardworking piece in any winter wardrobe. Or maybe I'm getting lazy when it comes to winter dressing? Either way, dressing down and kicking back with a slightly teenage grunge vibe appeals to me greatly. Re-living the 90s obvs.

what i wish i was wearing #4

I won't go on about with my infatuation with trainers. But, I definitely applaud how this woman effortlessly mixes a structured coat with a relaxed bag & a pair of trainers. Sophistication with ease. This is what I aim to look like.

a.p.c fall 2012

I love the sixties. It's definitely my favorite era for fashion. A.P.C really nails the sixties silhouette, mixing classic prints and designs to make the collection modern and utterly timeless. The A-line skirts and pea coats look cute, but not in a sickly sweet way. Also - styling points for double tartan, matchy twin-set vibe at it's best.

inspiration #3: ankle socks

To me, styling is all about the little details. It’s the little quirks and attention to detail which I admire most about great outfits. Ankle socks are one of my little pleasures I like to indulge in during winter. It’s a necessity which can easily become an accessory. I’m especially enjoying the combination of socks and trousers, masculine styling with a bit of fun. Whether choosing to go bold with a pair of neon socks, or a more muted autumnal colour, I think we should pay more attention to the humble sock. Show them off - roll up your jeans or trousers, wear them on top of tights, the possibilities are endless. So, when you’re choosing your socks tomorrow morning, go crazy, dig out your best socks [ribbed, striped, glittery…] and wear them with pride. I promise you, it will make you smile.

I love Cara's ability to make what can only be described as a 'white tent' [see picture six], look cool. This editorial only adds to my current obsession with wanting all things padded + quilted. Insulation at it's best.

Happy Friday peeps.

inspiration #2: in black

However hard I try to bring myself to wear colour right now, I just can't. Winter weather has finally set in and i'm reaching for all things black, navy and grey in my wardrobe. Boring? I think not. Mixing black with interesting silhouettes (both structured and unstructured), textures, and details makes an all black outfit less 'goth' more 'chic'. I especially really like the slouchy black sweatshirt and sliver threaded chiffon shirt paired with studded trainers, the perfect edgy combination. Update a lacklustre black jumper by wearing it over a floaty maxi skirt, a crisp white shirt or a pair of checked tapered trousers.

what i wish i was wearing #2

Super cute outfit. The oversized navy knit keeps the skirt and bow from looking too sugary sweet. Makes me want to dig out my American Apparel hair bows.

monki wishlist

From the top (left to right): Minna, Millie, Penny, Frida, Minna, Phoenix, Anke and Paris.

I really really like Monki. I love their simple aesthetic, reminiscent to American Apparel and Cos but without the hefty price tag. I'd say my dress sense is pretty minimalistic, but I like clothes with a bit of a twist. Being a massive fan of shirts I love the Frida shirt with contrast coloured sleeves, and can't resist a checked shirt so the Millie one is great for Winter. I also really like the fact their clothes have actual names, it's cute because it gives them a character. I only hope Monki will expand across the UK so people like me don't have to plan their next trip to London solely to coincide with a spending spree at Monki!

This makes me want to go on a road trip. Although, in reality, I doubt any road trip of mine would be anywhere near as glamourous as this.
